Predictions for the New President

Three of the nation's leading political analysts will discuss Barack Obama's presidency in this year's first Barrick Lecture.

"The First 100 Days: Predictions for the Obama Administration" is set for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at UNLV's Artemus Ham Concert Hall.

The panel will feature:

  • E.J. Dionne, columnist for the Washington Post and commentator for National Public Radio and NBC's Meet the Press
  • Gloria Borger, contributing editor at U.S. News & World Report and political analyst for CNN
  • former U.S. Rep. J.C. Watts, chairman of the J.C. Watts Companies

Local political analyst Jon Ralston will moderate.

Tickets Required
The lecture is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets can be picked up at the UNLV Performing Arts Center box office. There is a limit of two tickets per person.

Gift Brings Prominent Speakers
The Barrick Lecture Series began in the early 1980s and is funded through a grant from the late philanthropist Marjorie Barrick. The series presents nationally and internationally known speakers from a variety of fields.

Past speakers have included former U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford, former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev, chimpanzee researcher Jane Goodall, and tennis legend Arthur Ashe.

Humorist Garrison Keillor is scheduled to be a part of the series Sept. 23.
