Smatresk Named President
The Nevada Board of Regents named Neal J. Smatresk the ninth president of UNLV on Aug. 6. Smatresk has served as executive vice president and provost since 2007 and led campuswide efforts last year to forge a new strategic plan for UNLV.
"I am both humbled and excited to have been asked to take on this great responsibility," Smatresk said. "What I love most about UNLV is that we provide our students with the opportunity to change their lives by connecting them to the careers of their dreams. Our faculty and staff have created a caring environment focused on student success that engages our undergraduate and graduate students in cutting-edge research in more than 100 disciplines."
