Greenspun Hall Dedication Set for Dec. 2

You're invited to join us as we celebrate the opening of Greenspun Hall, the fifth largest academic building on campus. The dedication ceremony is 3-5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2. There will also be a reception and building tours.

Greenspun Hall
The 120,000-square-foot building consists of four interconnected towers varying from one to five stories. Greenspun Hall includes classrooms, broadcast studios, and offices. Its 190-seat auditorium will serve as a place to engage the campus and community on issues and topics important to Nevadans.

Its distinctive courtyard is shaded by a solar power array, which will provide energy for the building. Greenspun Hall is targeting a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification.

Located southeast of the Student Union on Maryland Parkway and serving as a cornerstone of Midtown UNLV, the building is bringing most of the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs units into one building, including:

  • Hank Greenspun School of Journalism & Media Studies
  • Environmental Studies
  • Social Work
  • Communication Studies
  • Public Administration
  • Criminal Justice

Having the academic and research areas in one building will foster closer collaboration among departments, enabling researchers to better address issues affecting the quality of life in the region.

Greenspun Contribution
The Greenspun Family Foundation contributed $37 million for the project — the largest single donation in UNLV history and one of the largest in state history. The family has worked closely with the College of Urban Affairs and UNLV for many years.
