Grant Aims to Improve Science and Math Education in Southern NevadaGrant Aims to Improve Science and Math Education in Southern Nevada
UNLV's Center for Math and Science Education is collaborating with the Clark County School District (CCSD) to improve education, thanks to a new grant awarded by the Nevada department of education.

The goals of Project MIST (Mathematics Integrated with Science Using Technology) are to reform teaching practices, improve content knowledge for both teachers and students, and develop a professional learning community for middle school math and science teachers.

Teams of CCSD teachers from grades five through eight will increase their knowledge of science and math during an intensive two-week summer institute hosted by UNLV, which will be supplemented by a fall semester graduate-level course.
