UNLV Hosts National Clean Energy Summit Aug. 19 at Cox Pavilion
Industry leaders, scientists, policy experts, politicians and citizens will gather at UNLV on Aug. 19 for the National Clean Energy Summit, a one-day event designed to help chart a course to a clean energy future for our nation. Hosted by the Center for American Progress, U.S. Senator Harry Reid and UNLV, the event will feature panel discussions with local and national leaders about the development of renewable energy, energy-efficient technologies, and robust clean energy markets in Nevada, the nation and the world.
Among the panelists and speakers will be Reid, U.S Senate majority leader; Janet Napolitano, governor of Arizona; Bill Ritter, governor of Colorado; Jon Wellinghoff, commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; John Podesta, president and CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund; Robert E. Rubin, director and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Citigroup; T. Boone Pickens, chairman of BP Capital Management; and former President Bill Clinton.
The event, which will be held at the Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV, is open to the public. Interested individuals can register at cleanenergysummit.org. Registration fees are $150 for the general public and $25 for students.

UNLV's Office of Strategic Energy Programs and the Division of Research and Graduate Studies will host the 2008 UNLV Renewable Energy Symposium on Aug. 20, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Stan Fulton Building on the UNLV campus. This free symposium will focus primarily on renewable energy production in Nevada, the Southwest, and from across the nation, and will provide opportunities for researchers working on renewable projects to collaborate with others in the field.
